Makara Sankranti Celebrations @ Aditya School, Narsapur

Makara Sankranti signifies shunning the darkness of delusion and allowing the light within shine brighter.

Aditya School at Narsapur hosted the Sankranti celebrations in a grand, traditional and devotional manner/ way with the traditional and colourful Rongoli drawings by the girls, the school wore a new look resembling Sankranthi Lakshmi. All the students were present in traditional attire to add colour to the festive mood. The Principal Smt. Supraja Rani blazed the bonfire amidst fun filled and enthusiastic children. Under the guidance of the principal, some traditional activities such as Pongal preparation, BommalaKoluvu/(Puppet Show), Gangireddula dancing to different musical tunes and Kabaddi were conducted. Some children dressed in Haridasulu caught the attention of all present there the sky was filled with beautiful kites flown joyfully by the children. There was festive mood (everywhere) in the school atmosphere.

In the afternoon session Garagala dance was arranged. Another notable feature of the celebration was Kolatam which stole the hearts of everyone there.

Speaking on the occasion the Principal Smt. Supraja Rani stated that this festival is regarded as the beginning of an auspicious phase in Indian Culture and by celebrating such festivals a sense of unity brotherhood and social togetherness can be developed in the young minds. She wished may the pongal give all sort of peace, happiness prosperity and good health to every one.
