World Blood Donors Day and Anti Child Labour Day at Aditya Degree College for Women,kakinada

Blood Donors Day was celebrated at Aditya Degree College for women to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary blood donors for their life saving gifts of blood.

Under the guidance of Mr.S.V.N.Suresh, HOD , Life sciences, students have organised blood grouping tests. Speaking at the occasion he said that transfusion of blood and  blood products helps save millions of lives every year. It helps the patients suffering from life-threatening conditions live longer and with higher quality of life. Large number of students & faculty participated in the event.

Later in the day a seminar was organized marking the Anti-Child Labour day.  NSS programe officers Dr. U.Srinivas Rao, Ms. Bhuvana & Mrs. Amaravathi organized the programme. While addressing the gathering Mr.Srnivas said that all children are to be treated as one’s own children, adding that no child should be deprived of his/her childhood as childhood is the most precious part of one’s life. He said that children can hardly be expected to fight for their rights. Instead, society  ought to fight for rights of children inspite of the well framed child labour laws , most of children are still seen working at industries all over the country.He recalls poverty  as one of the main factors for this problem. He necessitated the need that each and every individual should have knowledge about child loabour laws. He said that child labour can be controlled by economic development, increasing awareness and making education affordable across all levels, and enforcement of Anti Child Labour laws. He asked students to take a pledge to eradicate child labour completely.

Various competitions are organised on this occasion. In the elecution competiton Ms. P.sriha of III B.com & Ms. A.Kavya of II Mecs won 1st prize and Ms.S.Naga Shilpa & Ms.Apeksha Jain of II BBM won 2nd prize. In essay writing competition Ms.A.Dharani of III Mpcs & Ms.V.Kusuma Devi of II Mecs won 1st prize and Ms.Lavina Jain of II Mstcs won 2nd prize.
