A child normally takes 2 to 3 minutes to complete this calculation, but a child trained by Abacus can give you the answer much faster than that. Abacus is a time tested mechanical aid used during 1220 AD in China to help people perform calculations with large numbers, abacus in known by various names like Suan Pan of Soroban.

Abacus is still in use today by shopkeepers in various parts of asia and 'Chinatowns' in North America. The use of abacus is taught in Asian schools even today.

We use the abacus to teach children mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, squares and square roots with both whole numbers and decimals.

How is Abacus Used

Initially, children are taught to do calculations from 1 to 99 using their fingers, and then with the abacus for bigger numbers. In a few weeks from then, the children will be trained to deal with big numbers without using any mechanical aids even the abacus. This helps them to develop a high level of mental ability, confidence and concentration skills.

Hand Gym Method

Children perform logical and arithmetic calculations using hand fingers.

Memory Gym Method

Without using abacus / pencil / paper or any external help, children perform all arithmetic calculation by imagining abacus in their mind.

Every since ADITYA schools begin this practice of ABACUS, we have been enrolling good number of students for the NLC (National level competition) conducted by SMART GENIUS. Equally important is that the number of students proving good in this competition is increasing every year.
