Agriculture has a lot of scope in terms of career opportunities. With the commercialization of horticulture and agriculture there, are wide-ranging opportunities for paid jobs as well as a private enterprise. State Department of Agriculture employs agricultural engineers as agricultural officers for the improvement of agriculture in a district. There is an increasing demand for B.Tech Agriculture for jobs in Govt. and other agencies. They will help in design and production of farm implements, help in soil and water conservation work, help in maintaining machinery used in the farms, production of value-added products, maintenance of diesel pump, water management in the field, precision farming and train the farmers and other stakeholders on agricultural engineering works. They have ample scope in the financial institution, rural development departments, manufacturing units and research institutes. There are many options as agriculture officers in banks and there are many private companies like Jain irrigation, Mahindra and Mahindra, Teffe.Etc which needs agriculture engineers.
There are also private firms investing money in medicinal crops and plantation crops who normally hire agricultural engineers. Postgraduate students can work as supervisors, distributors and engineers; or they can also start his/her own business. Skilled professionals can opt for research activities. They can join IARI as a junior fellow researcher and become agricultural scientists. Professionals in this career can also opt for teaching jobs in universities and colleges.
