DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
Sir Arthur Cotton an eminent Civil Engineer who is adored as “Bhageeratha” by the agricultural community of Coastal districts is our source of inspiration to establish the Civil Engineering Department in our College. The Significant work done by him making the barren area a fertile land with the construction of Godavari dam is immemorable and he is the architect to make the delta a Rice bowl for the entire State. The prime aim of the Department is to produce Technocrats who render their services in building the Nation. Civil Engineering Department is also known as the mother of all Engineering branches. The field of Civil Engineering not only comprises human activity but also provides a major source of water management. There is a wide scope of research & consultancy within the department, as there is a need for new types of innovative structures. The advantage of choosing this branch is that there is a wide scope of practical learning.
Academics
The students may pursue a four year Under-graduate or a three-year diploma course in this branch.
The students can gain expertise in core subjects like Surveying, Construction Materials, Strength of Materials, Structures, Water Resources, Environmental Studies, Geotechnical Engineering &Transportation Engineering, by having a rare opportunity to undergo internship at the end of every academic year commencing from II year onwards, for gaining hands-on experience at Sowbhagya, Gayathri, Ramky construction Companies which are our close associates.
Faculty
The Department has qualified and experienced faculty. They also provide an open platform for learning to the students, by clarifying their doubts regularly.
Laboratory Facilities
Laboratory Facilities are the major source of inspiration in pursuing Engineering, as there is ample source of practical exposure in the Laboratories. The students are having exemplary lab facilities with a heavy investment which are generally and rarely available and the lab equipment like Total Station, Universal testing Machine, Tri-axial testing Machine, CBR Apparatus. Shear Box Apparatus helps the students to have a wide industrial exposure. The Laboratories are so established that any student interested in doing research has a good platform for experimentation. The students are well trained for the GATE examination from the third year of the course for facilitating them to prosecute their PG study i.e. M. Tech. The students are trained by eminent reputed architects and renowned professors from Universities to gain expertise and competence in the consultancy field.
