AN ACT OF CHARITY BY Std. VIII AND IX STUDENTS AT OLD AGE HOMES @APSJKP

The students of Std.VIII and IX visited old age homes ‘Shravan Ashram’ at sarpavaram and ‘Rotary Ashraya’ at Rayudupalem today. The students happily volunteered to go to the home of old people. As soon as they stepped in, all the people cheered to see them. The students joined hands and greeted them. They conversed with the old people and sang songs, performed comics and entertained them. Children served snacks and fruits to the blessed ones. Some of the students were in tears and came to know the reasons why these old people in that old age homes. Some of the old people told that they were abandoned and deserted by their children.

Our students knew from their expressions that they were longing to share their grief with someone. Students responded that it was indeed very satisfying experience for them as they could bring smiles on the old people’s faces. Students expressed that they got known value of their grandparents and the tenderness with which they need to take care of them. They realized one must contribute and understand their social responsibilities towards society. Principal Smt.B.Supraja Rani said that it was a valuable program where there was a room to create awareness among students about social work to sensitized students to the predicaments and problems of aged people and to became aware of the joy of serving and being with the aged.
