World water Day observed at Aditya Degree College, Kakinada

World Water Day celebrated at Aditya Degree College, Kakinada. Speaking on this occasion, the Academic Coordinator of Aditya Degree and PG Colleges, Shri BEVL Naidu opined that after air, the most important natural resource for total life forms on this earth is Water. He also said that it is everyone’s responsibility to conserve and properly use the precious resource called as ‘water’ without polluting it. He informed that the total volume of the water which is present on this earth since the time of ‘Dinosaurs’ is not changed i.e., the water consumed by dinosaurs is being consumed till now by us also!  He gave a detailed account of water resources that are available on this earth and said that 97% of water is present in the form of salt water in the oceans, 3% is available as fresh water in which 2% is locked in ice caps and only 1% is available for human beings, in this 1% about 0.59% is hiding inside earth in the form of Ground water and thus only 0.41% of fresh water is available as flowing water in rivers and lakes. He said that we shall really work hard to preserve this resource for our use and also should see that the same resource is handed over to the future generation without pollution. He also said that people should look into various alternatives of saving the water and conserving the same.

The vice principal of Aditya degree College, Dr. A. Maniprakash told that since water is viewed as a commodity rather than a resource it is being bottled and sold which is aggravating the scarcity of water for the people. He said this is the reason for the early scarcity of water in summer. He opined that instead of bottling the water and feeling that it is safe, it is better to send the water into the earth to filter and keep safe. He also reinstated the importance of the great natural resource called water on the occasion of ‘World Water Day’.

On this occasion, Shri Naidu planted a sapling in the premises of Aditya Degree College where the teaching and non teaching members were present at the occasion.
