Biotechnology students of Aditya Degree College, Kakinada visit CTRI, Rajahmundry
The Biotechnology students of Aditya Degree College, Kakinada visited the Central Tobacco Research Institute, Rajahmundry. Giving this information, the Academic Coordinator Shri BEVL Naidu said that it is a special practice at Aditya Degree College, that the students will be getting much practical exposure through these visits. He also said that Biotechnology students will get rare chance to visit the research institutes. On this occasion, Shri Naidu flagged off the industrial tour to CTRI, Rajahmundry. The first, second and final year Biotechnology students of Aditya Degree College participated in this visit.
The students visited the Central Tobacco Research Institute(CTRI) at Rajahmundry. The Principal Scientist of CTRI, Smt. Suman Kalyani said that CTRI was established during 1947 and presently it is under the ICAR, New Delhi and the prime mandate of the institute is to improve the yield and quality of various types of tobacco i.e., Natu, Chewing, Lanka, Burley, HDBRG, Hookah, Wrapper, Cigar filler and Oriental and solving various problems associated with the cultivation of different types of Tobacco. She showed the research labs where the good quality Tobacco seeds are being cultivated and he also explained about the quality improvement programme for Tobacco. She also explained about the positive and negative impact of Tobacco usage.
The Secretary of Aditya Educational Institutions Shri NK Deepak Reddy and the Director of Aditya Educational Institutions Smt. N. Suguna Reddy appreciated the efforts of accompanying staff members who could coordinate this visit to the research institute. On this occasion Shri Deepak Reddy opined that the opportunities are a bit less for the Biotechnology students in these days and only when biotechnology students are given a chance to get exposed to various industries and research works. He also opined that the students should make use of such opportunities where they can exposure to real-time situations.
The Chairman of Aditya Educational Institutions, Shri N. Sesha Reddy appreciated the Principal Scientist Smt. Suman Kalyani of CRTI for extending their cooperation in making this visit a success. He gave a call to the students to make use of some more learning opportunities.
